recycled PET (r-PET)

recycled PET (r-PET)

Plastic, especially PET, is light and cheap.

It is one of the most widely used materials in the world. Due to its extreme durability, disposal is a challenge. It is therefore essential to use high-quality recycling technologies to process plastic waste.

PET recycling makes an important contribution to environmental protection, as the use of recycled materials to manufacture new plastic products reduces the need for raw materials, requires less energy to process and reduces the amount of plastic sent to landfill.

Of course, a recycled PET bottle is better than a PET bottle thrown away in the sea. Above all, however, the credo that a sensible reduction in the strain on resources should be achieved by extending the useful life of products still applies.

Outer material and lining fabric

Since 2024, 7clouds has only used recycled PET as the outer material and lining fabric.

These fabrics are all GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certified.

Outer material 1:

-RPET (recycled PET) with thin PU coating for waterproofness

Upper material 2:

-RPET (recycled PET) with TPU coating for waterproofness and typical 7clouds look.

Lining fabric:

-RPET (recycled PET)

Hard parts:

(belt buckles - belt adjusters - D-rings)

-Recycled PP (polypropylene) GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certified

Organic cotton

Until 2024, all 7clouds bags and backpacks were equipped with an organic cotton lining. Organic cotton supports farmers who cultivate their land organically and in an environmentally friendly way. Organic cotton is grown without chemical pesticides, artificial fertilisers and genetically modified plants.

Conventional cotton production, on the other hand, is chemically intensive and can have a negative impact on both people and the environment in the areas where it is grown. Switching to organic cotton therefore has a positive impact on the environment and the people in the cotton fields.

As we will be manufacturing all bag bodies from r-PET from 2024, we have also changed the lining fabric to r-PET so that the products have a standardised material composition. This promotes the recyclability of our products.
